What an amazing place! I started learning the guitar and within a month was playing a gig with a band! What makes Altered Stage so great is how kind and supportive they are to beginners. They make you feel like you’re never too old to start a new passion and the atmosphere is relaxed but exciting.

If you have ever felt like you wanted to learn an instrument and be a part of a band, but didn’t know where to start, Altered Stage is perfect.

Got Questions? We got answers.

What is Altered Stage?

Basically, it’s a place where you can feel like a rock star, while keeping your day job. Never played? Take unlimited lessons. Don’t own equipment? We got ‘all the gear you’ll need. Don’t know any other musicians? That is what we do best. Meet, learn, play, record, and grow with others. All on your schedule.

What does Altered Stage offer beyond private lessons?

We call it member programing, and it includes participation in jam sessions, live gigs, recording sessions, workshops and being part of a music loving family. Take a look at our Programs page to see a detailed list of what comes with a membership. It’s designed to be an all-inclusive experience.

What if I've never played before or don't even have my own instrument?

We welcome the absolute beginner to the seasoned player and will get you started no matter how overwhelmed you may feel about learning to play an instrument. We have the instruments you’ll need here, but we know you want to be able to practice at home, so our instructors will assist you in buying your own gear.

How long are private lessons, and how are they scheduled?

Private lessons are booked in 1-hour blocks and you book your lessons through our online booking software Pike13. Once you’re logged in, all you have to do is select your instructor and pick an open spot on their schedule. You can book as many as you like in advance, since monthly memberships come with unlimited lessons, and you can cancel them at any time. It’s all done online so no need to contact instructors directly.

How much does it cost to join?

Memberships range from $150 to $400 per month. Think of it like a gym; a basic membership gives you access to the space to “work out” on your own with our equipment (or use your own). You can participate in group activities as well such as playing live gigs, jams and the workshops. All other membership levels include unlimited private lessons which is like getting a personal trainer to take you to the next level. If you’ve never played before, it’s highly recommended that you start with a monthly membership that includes private lessons. This way, our instructors will show you the ropes and get you jamming with the other members as soon as you feel ready.

You offer unlimited music lessons. How does that work?

For memberships that include one instrument, you can take an unlimited number of lessons each month, subject to the instructor’s availability. Lessons are typically one hour each session. The same is true for monthly memberships that include two instruments. It’s a great deal when you compare Altered Stage to what other music lesson providers typically charge per lesson. Plus, as a member of Altered Stage, you will have access to the lesson rooms, rehearsal space and gear, so you can practice by yourself or with other members. You will also be able to participate in jam sessions and play live gigs with other Altered Stage members.
